Mother’s Outreach Network Secures Major Six-Figure Grant from W.K. Kellogg Foundation

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation Grant Will Go Towards A New Pilot Program to Support Black Mothers Involved with the Child Welfare System
WASHINGTON, DC — Mother’s Outreach Network is proud to secure a major six-figure grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation that will go towards supporting Black mothers in Washington, D.C. who have faced or are currently experiencing child welfare and family regulation system involvement and are striving to preserve their families.

“This is a critical time for mothers in America who are facing rising prices and a system that has worked against marginalized communities for far too long,” said Melody Webb, CEO and Executive Director of Mother’s Outreach Network. “As the capital of the wealthiest nation on the planet, we have a responsibility to lead the way in addressing the inequality we see every day in our communities. It’s past time for our elected officials to hear us and take action. Mother’s Outreach Network is grateful for the support of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, whose grant serves as a significant first step towards addressing these challenges.”

“When we support families, we are supporting children and their future. That is why we are excited by the potential of this program to advance racial equity by making a tangible difference in expanding economic opportunities for Black mothers and their families,” said Nara Topp, program officer at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

About the W.K. Kellogg Foundation

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF), founded in 1930 as an independent, private foundation by breakfast cereal innovator and entrepreneur Will Keith Kellogg, is among the largest philanthropic foundations in the United States. Guided by the belief that all children should have an equal opportunity to thrive, WKKF works with communities to create conditions for vulnerable children so they can realize their full potential in school, work and life. The Kellogg Foundation is based in Battle Creek, Michigan, and works throughout the United States and internationally, as well as with sovereign tribes. Special attention is paid to priority places where there are high concentrations of poverty and where children face significant barriers to success. WKKF priority places in the U.S. are in Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico and New Orleans; and internationally, are in Mexico and Haiti. For more information, visit www.wkkf.org.
