The Council of the District of Columbia to hold public oversight hearings on agency performance for FY 2023 and FY 2024. The hearings will begin Monday, January 17, 2024 and conclude on Friday, March 1, 2024.

We are thrilled to share that on Friday, January 5th, the Tax Revision Commission released its recommended tax proposals and included a recommendation for enhancing the District Child Tax Credit proposal! In fact, they recommended that DC parents be eligible to receive a tax credit of up to $1,000 per child (an additional $500 per child on top of Councilmember Parker’s DCTC bill).

This recommendation from the Tax Revision Commission affirms what we already know–that giving cash supports to families will make our city a better and more equitable place. We look forward to including the TRC’s recommendation in our DCTC testimony before the Council on January 24th!
Guaranteed Income: Black Men Need It Too!
At this political education session attendees will learn about the framework of the DC Guaranteed Income Coalition and hear from Black men discussing their basic needs and how the Guaranteed Income Coalition agenda can support their basic needs while advancing reparations for all our people. The meeting will take place on Zoom and at ONE DC Black Workers and Wellness Center.
