Mother’s Outreach Network Secures Major Six-Figure Grant from The Kresge Foundation

The Kresge Foundation Grant Will Go Towards A New Pilot Program to Support Black Mothers Involved with the Child Welfare System
WASHINGTON, DC — Mother’s Outreach Network is proud to secure a major six-figure grant from the Kresge Foundation that will go towards supporting Black mothers in Washington, D.C. who have faced or are currently experiencing child welfare and family regulation system involvement and are striving to preserve their families.

“In the wealthiest country in the world, it is unacceptable that too many mothers are forced to make sacrifices when it comes to affording caring for their families,” said Melody Webb, CEO and Executive Director of Mothers Outreach Network. “Mother’s Outreach Network is committed to demonstrating that with expanded, largely cash and resource assistance, more mothers could avoid involvement with the child welfare system altogether. We are honored to receive the Kresge Foundation’s grant, which will support D.C. moms and create a meaningful impact in the D.C. community.”

“Kresge’s Human Services Program is focused on multigenerational family social and economic success, which includes an emphasis on inclusive economic rights. Mothers Outreach Network’s Mother Up project is one of several pilot programs we support that are informing and demonstrating system solutions that can be implemented across the country.” said Gena Lewis, Senior Fellow, Kresge Human Services.
