The Mother’s Outreach Network Mother Up pilot program is made up of four guaranteed income pilots that are privately-funded, two of which are supported by research. The recruitment for the Phase 1 pilot started in December of 2022 and concluded with the launch of the first group of participants in May of 2023. The Phase 2 Guaranteed Income Research pilot started with design and recruitment in Fall of 2023 and recruitment concluded in August 2024. Participation includes cash assistance, with no strings attached, and no work requirement. Payments will be provided to mothers in Phase 1 and Phase 3 cohort for three years. The Mother Up Guaranteed Income Pilot Research Program Phases 2 and 3 will undergo independent evaluation, featuring mixed methods including randomized control trials (“RCTs”) and in-depth qualitative research to explore how additional income affects mothers’ family stability, parental commitment, and other indicators of socioeconomic wellbeing.
