Guaranteed, Together Guaranteed Income Program

In July 2024, Mothers Outreach Network launched Guaranteed, Together, a guaranteed income
direct cash summer program at The School Justice School (SJS). Guaranteed, Together
centers community-based program delivery and economic security in an intergenerational
format for transition-age middle school children and their parents at SJS. Through this program, fifteen participating families will each receive $200/week ($800/month) for a period of three months, without restrictions or requirements.

Additionally, program participants are offered MON’s legal education and legal services programming. MON-led student workshops train students to write mock legislation related to problems in the community, while parent sessions instruct parents on accessing low-income tax credits and navigating involvement with Child and Family Services Agency. CFSA is responsible for investigating allegations of neglect based on the truancy of minor children and other factors. Mothers Outreach Network seeks to explore the impact of cash on students and families affected by poverty and other issues that drive involvement with family policing and criminal legal systems. A report summarizing survey data will be prepared after the program’s conclusion.
