POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Senior Fundraising Communications Manager
ABOUT MOTHER’S OUTREACH NETWORK
Mother’s Outreach Network (MON) is a nonprofit organization that advances and centers the inclusion and empowerment of Black mothers in Washington, DC in the struggle for family preservation. MON is a constituency-driven organization dedicated to family preservation. Through organizing, community lawyering, and policy advocacy, MON transforms, from punitive to supportive, government income and child welfare systems, laws, policies, practices, and culture.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Mother’s Outreach Network’s Senior Fundraising Communications Manager drives the development, coordination, and execution of strategic fundraising and communications initiatives. This person reports to the Executive Director and collaborates with the Executive Director, staff, and constituents to combine fundraising and communication strategies, schedules, and campaigns to advance MON’s support of major and individual donors. The Senior Fundraising Communications Manager identifies, cultivates, and stewards donors by organizing one-on-one meetings, various outreach efforts, events, and online platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fundraising Cultivation: Identify potential major and individual donors and organize meetings and various scheduled communications to engage these prospects in MON’s mission and work.
- Fundraising Stewardship: Develop annual communication schedules and action items to maintain strategic communication with donors.
- Fundraising Event Organization: Under the supervision of the Executive Director and in collaboration with relevant constituents and staff, facilitates the planning and production of strategic cultivation and fundraising events.
- Content Creation: Draft high-quality written and visual content for various communication channels, including case statements, website posts, social media communications, email newsletters, press releases, and other marketing materials. Draft compelling stories, testimonials, and updates to engage donors, volunteers, and supporters.
- Communication Planning: Collaborate with leadership to develop a comprehensive monthly social media schedule as well as strategze in designing communication campaigns for specific MON fundraising projects such as the year-end appeal campaign.
- Alignment: Ensure messages align with organizational goals and priorities.
- Brand Management: Ensure consistency and adherence to brand guidelines across all communication materials and platforms.
- Outreach: Identify target audiences and communication channels to maximize social media impact.
- Media Relations: Direct the preparation of press releases, media kits, and pitches to promote MON’s
- Digital Marketing: Oversee the organization’s social media platforms, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement strategies. Monitor and report analytics to track performance and identify opportunities for audience growth and engagement.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with program staff, volunteers, and partners to gather content and share impact stories for effective, timely, and continuous communication with MON donors.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Commitment to the mission and culture of MON.
- Candidates must live in the Washington, D.C. area.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit fundraising, communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in fundraising campaigns.
- Experience in researching and cultivating major donors.
- 3-5 years in communications, public relations, or marketing, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management, email marketing, and content management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams that include Board Members, staff, volunteers, and constituents.
- Understanding of and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity values.
- Enthusiasm to learn, take direction, and accept constructive feedback.
COMPENSATION
This is a full-time salaried position. The salary is competitive with other small nonprofit organizations in Washington, D.C. and will align with the candidate’s relevant experience and knowledge. A health, dental and vision benefits package is provided: health insurance is covered by 100% for the employee and available to dependents. All federal holidays and all holidays observed by the District of Columbia are observed, as well as the week between Christmas and New Year.
