MotherUp Guaranteed Income Pilot
Call for Community Advisory Board (CAB) Members
The MotherUp Pilot Program (MotherUp) seeks members to join its Community Advisory Board (CAB). MotherUp, which is a three-year evaluation initiative to demonstrate the benefits of guaranteed income, will support mothers involved with the District of Columbia’s Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) through monthly cash payments for three years.
The CAB’s purpose is to execute the following:
– The CAB will advise on the design of the MotherUP guaranteed income pilot and provide ongoing input.
– CAB members will serve renewable terms of six months.
– A total of 3 to 15 members will be selected for the CAB.
– The majority of CAB members will be people with lived experience with CFSA-involvement.
– Gifts will be available to CAB members for their volunteer service.
– Community Advisory Board members can be past members of the pilot study.
– The group is anticipated to meet on a quarterly basis. At the beginning of the board\’s term there may be additional meetings and work to be done between quarterly meetings.
Overall Purpose of the Pilot Evaluation: The motivation for evaluating the guaranteed income pilot program is to 1) articulate and validate the program’s theory of change, 2) identify data collection strategies to understand participant experiences and measure key indicators, and 3) use findings to improve the quality and effectiveness of the program to better support families.
Mother’s Outreach Network’s Mission is to facilitate the power of Black mothers subject to systems of disempowerment, such as the family regulation and foster system, to upend a socio-economic structure that inadequately addresses their full potential for economic independence. MON advances economic security for women and families through three primary strategies: grassroots mobilization, policy advocacy, and legal programming..
